BUYERS now have a chance to cook in the kitchen of Australian Home Cook Hero, Lyndey Milan OAM, who has listed her Jamberoo home for auction on Sunday, November 7.

Ms Milan, who made her name as one of Australia's most recognised food and cooking show personalities, owned the 168 Nuninuna Drive home with late partner John Caldon, former Deputy Managing Director of Macquarie Bank, entrepreneur and television distribution innovator.Their six bedroom property, on more than 3ha of land, has just hit the market ready for auction later this month through Ray White Kiama agent Angie De Battista with a $3.5 million price guide.

Ms De Battista said she has already had interest from treechanging buyers which is in-line with how popular the Jamberoo market has been over the past year with those seeking an escape from the city.

“We have seen a big influx of Sydney buyers as now people have the opportunity to work from home,” Ms De Battista said.“Prices have increased dramatically and demand is strong. The township offers coastal living only 90 minutes from Sydney and the train timetable is regular.”Ms Milan said her late partner owned the property for several years before they met in 2007 and he loved to fill the place with people despite the poorly designed kitchen at the time.“When John wanted to add two bedrooms, I said only if we fix the kitchen and we needed to reverse the direction of the house because it felt like it was positioned the wrong way,” Ms Milan said.“I don’t mind being in the kitchen if I am part of the action, so it also needed to be the heart of the house.”

The couple undertook a huge renovation in 2011-12 that she said “transformed the house to be the home full of joy and laughter we wanted.”“I could not believe the beauty of the place, the wonderful grounds, the croquet court with its dry stone walls under construction,” she said.“The house itself, then with four bedrooms and two bathrooms, was great for a weekend getaway but had its limitations.“We changed the layout to six bedrooms, four with ensuites and one with twin beds for versatility and more importantly a huge dining area beside the open kitchen with an undisturbed outlook to the valleys below.“John and I loved to entertain together, we had so many weekend house parties, fabulous dinners with great conversation, singing and big parties which were all easily accommodated. It gave us so much pleasure and so many memories to treasure.”It’s no surprise that Ms Milan’s dream kitchen was one of her favourite parts of the house but she was hard pressed to narrow it down to just that one feature.“Once inside the entry hall, there is the most beautiful cathedral ceiling which carries through onto the outside deck, drawing you towards the view through the floor to ceiling glass windows,” she said.“The sheltered deck also hosts my pride and joy, the wood-fired oven and also a barbeque, and the croquet lawn on a lovely day has to be another favourite of mine.”
