Former New Zealand rugby union international Huia Gordon and his wife Koa have listed the cherished acreage agistment property where they were married at Hemmant in Brisbane’s east for sale.
The 10.42ha (26 acre) property located approximately 10km from the Brisbane CBD on Foley Road, Hemmant ,is being marketed by Keith Blair and Sarah Parker of Ray White Tingalpa.
Mr Gordon, who represented New Zealand Maori as a front row forward in the 1980s and 1990s, is reluctantly selling his near new executive family resort style residence plus stables because business commitments mean he spends most of his time in Christchurch.
The Managing Director of international furniture, fittings, electrical appliance and building products company, Huidon Group, has a major role with the rebuilding work in Christchurch following the devastating earthquakes. Mr Gordon has been working closely with the Christ church Chamber of Commerce and the Mayor of Christchurch to help in the rebuild. New Zealand has been seeking 1,000 Queensland tradespeople to assist with the reconstruction.
Mr Blair said the Gordons were married on the massive old spotted gum wood deck surrounding the 20m swimming pool of their six-bedroom home.
“The owners have created a spectacular residence but because they are now spending so much time in New Zealand because of Huia’s business they have put the home on the market,” he said.
“It’s rare to find an acreage property of this size so close to the city. Besides the 600m residence, there are multiple streams of income from the agistment as well as rent from the two self-contained two bedroom units adjoining the stables.
“The owners also have a current DA to split the existing home onto a one acre allotment and build a new home on the remaining 25 acres.”
Ms Parker said the executive residence features six double bedrooms, three bathrooms, a stunning gourmet kitchen, office, a huge media room, spacious open plan living and a formal lounge and dining room.
“The outdoor entertaining areas overlook the estate and include the pool, water features, a separate spa, a bar with a retractable TV and a bathroom,” she said.
“The out buildings include an approximately 600 sqm shed with 15 stables, seven tack bays and a wash bay.
“There is also a dressage area, an approximately 900m trotting track, two round yards and barrier gates and fully fenced paddocks.”
The Foley Rd estate is only approximately 15 minutes to Brisbane’s international and domestic airports and 10 minutes to the shores of Moreton Bay. The property will be offered for sale at an auction on a date to be determined.
