Proceeds from deceased estate to go to charity

ALL proceeds from the sale of 10 Rachel Drive, Cranbourne North will be donated to charity at the behest of the property’s late owner.
The donation has prompted the selling office, Ray White Cranbourne, to match the owner’s generosity by giving 10 per cent of the sales commission to the estate executor David Barritt to donate to the charity of his choice.
Mr Barritt has chosen to donate the money to Zoos Victoria’s Bushfire Emergency Wildlife Fund through the Healesville Sanctuary in regional Victoria.
It is estimated that approximately one billion native animals have been killed by the fires and countless more have been injured or displaced. In the wake of this, Mr Barritt said he hopes the donation will give help where it’s sorely needed.
“I have chosen the Healesville Sanctuary to donate to as they’re trying to help the wildlife after the bushfire,” Mr Barritt said.
“I thought there’s been a lot of money donated to people affected by bushfires so I decided I would donate it to the wildlife.
“I was looking for someone to donate to and found the Healesville Sanctuary and since there’s a lot of scammers out, I decided to go with them as they are a reputable outlet.”
Through Zoos Victoria, the sanctuary will use the funds to provide medical care and rehabilitate Australian wildlife affected by the fires.
Ray White Cranbourne selling agent Kate Radcliffe said the gesture from the late owner to donate the entire proceeds of the house to charity is incredibly generous.
“The proceeds going to charity from the estate is an amazing gesture and our additional support and donation while small in comparison is reflective of our desire to assist,” Ms Radcliffe said.
“We have all been hit in some way by the recent bushfires and the opportunity to give something back no matter how big or small is the least we can do to those that have lost so much.
“We wish all those involved the best in the recovery and look forward to further opportunities to do so in the future.”
The three bedroom property is currently on the market through a private sale and features a huge backyard, hostess kitchen and is ready to occupy.
