Ray White Cottesloe | Mosman Park Director Jody Fewster said the bespoke luxury family home at 29 Keane St, Peppermint Grove was designed by internationally known architect Martin Grounds of multi-award-winning Grounds Kent Architects.
The resort-style home on an immense 1819sqm site, just 600m from the river's edge at Freshwater Bay, has soaring ceilings, five bedrooms, multiple living areas, a deluxe kitchen, a full-sized tennis court, basement wine cellar and an enviable landholding with a prime dress circle address.
“The location is in the bluest of blue chip suburbs. It’s a fabulous family home of a grand scale, on an amazing block of land and in a great location,” Ms Fewster said, who is marketing the property.
Locally and internationally sourced materials throughout the home include Australian she-oak flooring and cabinetry, silky oak doors, imported marble tiling and stone paving, and solid steel window frames.
Outside there’s beautifully aged limestone and solid wrought-iron gates, and the entry is grand yet tranquil, with a pond and trickling water feature beside the oversized, solid sheoak entry door.
Inside, the jaw-dropping voids connect the ground and first levels and create an incredible spaciousness, enhanced by expansive windows and French doors surrounding the sun-drenched north-facing courtyard.
Owner Alan Ledger said it was time for 29 Keane St to bring joy to a new family.
“Our architect was asked to design a large family home that would provide space for our family to grow and make memories,” he said.
“We always entertained at home with the tennis court and swimming pool both facing the beautiful northern aspect.
“I personally love the limestone walls, timber features throughout and expansive windows.
“These were based on Winthrop Hall at the University of Western Australia.
“This was the architect’s idea, among many others which makes the home unique and pleasing to be in.
“The last 20 years has seen many changes with the children now all leading their own lives.”
“The real feature of the house is it faces north south and so it’s flooded with light and the windows were designed to allow as much natural light as possible into the house, and the ceilings are 10ft high.”
Mr Ledger has owned the block since 1990 but the original house was demolished and completely rebuilt using Martin Ground’s design, who is well known for designing one of the Four Seasons Hotels in their Asian portfolio.
The ultimate entertainer's kitchen features a U-shaped design, stainless steel counters and splashbacks, luxury Miele appliances and a walk-in corner pantry. In addition, there’s a gorgeous basement cellar, with a constant temperature and storage for approx. 800 bottles, ducted reverse-cycle air conditioning and ducted vacuuming system, and a gymnasium with a Cedar-lined ceiling.
