Mary Valley Auctions Prove Successful
Rural real estate has seen an increase in demand, with seven out of eight of the formerly government-owned Mary Valley properties going into private ownership.
Rural real estate has seen an increase in demand, with seven out of eight of the formerly government-owned Mary Valley properties going into private ownership.
Saturday's auction results proved to be very prosperous, with only the one property still to be sold under contract.
More than 100 people attended the auction at the Gympie Senior Citizens Centre - with 32 registered bidders making more than 70 different offers through the helmsman process.
The plan was to see the land return to private ownership. With the new owners able to make the area their home, they will be able to ensure communities can further thrive, according to Queensland minister for state development, infrastructure and planning Jeff Seeney.
"We are working hard to restore the area that Labor destroyed and then neglected," he explained.
"Our plans are not only to sell the smaller lifestyle land holdings, but to work with industry and business to restore agricultural enterprises in the valley, which will bring new job opportunities and more people to the region."
David Gibson, member for Gympie and chairman of the Mary Valley Economic Advisory Group, added that the auction is an example of a working Mary Valley strategy by the Queensland government.
