SOME properties command extra excitement, and Campbell House is one of those given it’s high powered pedigree and riverfront position in Brisbane.
The current owners, Chris and Letitia Vitale of PointCorp bought the original house at Molonga Terrace, Graceville from builder Scott Hutchison in 2014 and then invited in award-winning Brisbane-based architect Shaun Lockyer to update and renovate the Graceville icon.
The five bedroom character home at 35 Molonga Terrace, Graceville pays homage to the architectural design craft and is for sale via an expressions of interest campaign closing on December 18 through top local agency Ray White Graceville.
Ray White Sherwood | Graceville Principal Cameron Crouch said the highly prized Campbell House on an expansive 3339sqm had been given a state-of-the-art renovation.
“This grand estate has been transformed into a one-of-a-kind masterpiece whilst also retaining a myriad of its award-winning detail. Ensuring the utmost in privacy and exclusivity the residence harmonises contemporary style and original finishes to create an intricate floor plan of blended materials,” Mr Crouch said.
“We have had a lot of interest in this house from people all over Brisbane.”
Architecturally designed by Don Watson and winner of the prestigious Robin Boyd National Architectural Award in 1989, this riverfront residence has since been flawlessly re-designed by world-class architect Shaun Lockyer drawing on various inspirations for its complex form.
“It’s been an enormous privilege to be engaged in the redesign work of Campbell House.
One of the most exciting features that I love about this house is the extraordinary attention to detail that Don Watson designed into this house originally,” Mr Lockyer said.
“The use of the brickwork and the beautiful wood panelling that runs through the living rooms is something we adored when we first got to see the house.
“It is not often that we get to see a space like this in Brisbane, or Australia for that matter, as it’s such a solid construction with impeccable details.
“All the red bricks, are highlighted by the champagne coloured bricks and the stitching details is beautiful. It’s all been preserved and flows through to a bar area which is a functional space.”
Mr Lockyer said he loves all the “interesting geometries” and the Cararra marble completes the rest of the palette.
“I love this exquisite expansive outdoor entertaining area with a cantilevered terrace out into the landscape which sits on the edge of the river.”
The pool lounging area has one of the widest pool frontages in Brisbane to the river.
