Between 30 September and 18 October, a dedicated team of 11 staff members will collectively trek a massive 1,000 kilometres in 18 days. The Armidale team aims to raise $5,000 as part of a broader campaign goal to secure $200,000 for Anya’s Wish - an independently funded, family-run research project dedicated to finding better treatments for childhood cancer, specifically Osteosarcoma.
For the Armidale team, this challenge is deeply personal. Anya Zuber was a well-known local who tragically lost her life to Osteosarcoma at just 19 years old.
Ray White Rural Armidale Principal, Andrew Starr, has been an inaugural committee member of Anya's Wish since its inception six years ago and currently serves as the local committee chair. Driven by a close connection to the Zuber family and the local community, Andrew and the team are determined to make a tangible difference.
"Cancer impacts all of our lives in one way or another. Funding vital research is an important part of the fight against this devastating disease," says the Armidale team. "Causes like this remind us of the enormity of losing a child and the profound impact that loss has on families and communities."
