Kirkwood started at 23 under Kevin Currie, a founding member of Ray White Livestock and one of the most respected names in North Queensland. He didn't waste the opportunity. In 2019, he won the Queensland Young Auctioneers Competition. In 2021, he topped 16 finalists from across the country to win the National Young Auctioneers Competition at the Sydney Royal Easter Show — the largest the competition had ever seen.

That same year, he took on the Townsville Rural and Livestock business as principal — one of the youngest in the network. He grew it fast, then made a bold move: a strategic partnership with long-standing Charters Towers agency Geaneys.

The merger formed Geaney Kirkwood, which went on to record the highest-priced rural property sale at auction in the Ray White Rural network for 2025.

In 2024, Kirkwood joined the Ray White Rural corporate team as Livestock Associate. His impact was immediate, a relentless focus on member value, a clear vision for network growth, and the kind of drive that's hard to manufacture.

"Liam is exactly the kind of person who makes this industry exciting. He's got the hunger, the skill, and the genuine care for our members that this role demands. Watching him build Geaney Kirkwood told us everything, he doesn't just grow a business, he elevates everyone around him. This promotion is absolutely deserved, and I have no doubt he'll take Ray White Rural's livestock operations to places we've never been” said Matt White, CEO, Ray White Rural & Livestock.

This is a proud moment for Ray White Rural and a well-earned one for Liam Kirkwood.
