It was another exciting online Ray White auction event last night which saw this immaculately presented and fully renovated c1910 semi at 25 Lithgow St, Wollstonecraft sell for $1.775 million under the hammer to a local family.

Ray White Lower North Shore agents Desiree Hough and Chris Keane attracted a whopping 11 registered bidders to the online auction of the pretty federation home in one of the best kept secret locations in Sydney. This pair proved that competition can still be created in the world of social distancing and online live auctions.

“Five bidders were active in the live online auction which saw some strong and active bidding. Our buyers all loved the experience, it was much less stressful for them as they were all at home. Auctioneer Jason Andrew ran a very smooth auction. I think the online auction method is here to stay,” Ms Hough said.

“Sellers are always nervous but it was very comfortable for them and they are delighted with the result given they had just launched in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I am really proud of this sale for our sellers and how quickly Chris Keane and I adapted. We took our time with all the private inspections that we held over multiple days and to be honest we have met a lot of genuine buyers. There’s a huge amount of buyers looking right now.

“At first there were a lot of people trying to offer low ball prices which we quickly circumvented and found but there’s still a huge percentage of buyers who are looking for quality properties, that are committed and ready to buy for a fair price.

“Naturally we had sanitiser, gloves and masks available at all our inspections and complied with the social distancing rules at all times.

“Many buyers fell in love with this property.”

Ray White NSW CEO and Auctioneer Jason Andrew said there were 50 people watching online last night and 11 registered bidders which is amazing in any market.“It’s remarkable how quickly our buyers have adapted to these online auctions and are happy to place a bid through the chat function,” he said.

“It’s really exciting how fast consumers have adapted to video conferencing and apps like Houseparty, Zoom and Google Hangouts. Everyone is growing in confidence in this market.

“Desiree and Chris ran a great campaign and actually brought this auction forward from May 2 which is a great sign.

“April has been so disrupted by the COVID-19 restrictions, plus Easter and ANZAC Day but May is going to be a much bigger month by way of volume.”
