Second generation Ray White family members and owners of the Mirrabooka and South Perth businesses, David and Diem Whiteman have just expanded and into nearby Morley, in Perth’s inner east.
With a region full of opportunity and growth coupled with the strength of Australasia’s largest real estate brand, the family are set to take the Morley region to the next level, just like they have done throughout Perth over the past 35+ years.
“Our family actually owned the Ray White Morley office back in the 90’s and I actually grew up here, so we are absolutely thrilled to be back,” Mr Whiteman said (pictured above).
The Whiteman family business started in the 1970s by David’s parents Ross and Ann Whiteman. Both sons joined the business after school and have been entrenched in the Ray White family group ever since.
The brothers grew up around real estate their whole lives, and it was a natural progression for them to join the industry. David’s brother Mark Whiteman is the CEO of Ray White Western Australia as part of the franchisor team.
David and Diem Whiteman have run the Mirrabooka office since 1995.
“We have been in partnership with the White family for a long time and have a really good relationship with them. We find the entire corporate team incredibly helpful,” David Whiteman said.
“And trust me, we embrace every training session… I get in trouble from my brother if we don’t!” he laughed.
Mr Whiteman said that being with a group as strong as Ray White was integral during an uncertain period of time like this.
“Other groups of business owners that I speak to are just lost in terms of what is going on in the world at the moment. At Ray White, we have had a constant stream of information on how to deal with and best tackle the current situation,” he said.
“I cannot see how any other group could replicate the level of professionalism and development that Ray White offers.”
“While many businesses are consolidating and contracting we’ve taken great confidence from being part of the Ray White group and see the current environment as a great time to grow,” Mr Whiteman concluded.
Diem has always headed up the property management side of the business, and David the sales business.
“Property management has been Diem’s baby since day one. We are a unique business in that we don’t just run property management on the side of a sales-focused business. It is an integral part of our whole group,” he said.
Morley is 15km east of the Perth CBD and neighbours their Mirrabooka business. The region is a popular area for families and has a wide variety of housing in all price brackets.
With the large fly-in fly-out population in Perth, its proximity to the airport also makes it an in-demand area.
“This major drawcard of this area is it’s convenience - it is in close proximity to the CBD, the beach and the airport,” he said.
“It is also a really vibrant entertainment precinct with pubs, restaurants, cafes and a major Westfield shopping centre.”
The Whitemans plans to continue growing their market share and developing an attraction business that will come from word of mouth.
“Our major focus is on customer satisfaction, we are really striving to deliver the best experience to buyers and sellers, investors and tenants, and we believe our growth will come from that,” he said.
Mr Whiteman wants to expand the team and was on the lookout for agents who fit their family-focused culture.
“We pride ourselves on the fact that many staff have been with us for over 10, 15, and even 20 years, which we hope speaks to the trust that we build with our people,” he said.
“The future is changing so quickly and we cannot wait for this next challenge.”
Mark Whiteman, CEO of Ray White Western Australia, congratulated his younger brother and sister in law on their expansion.
“Naturally, I am incredibly proud of what they have achieved and to be expanding in these challenging times says a lot about them as leaders and their resilience over a long period of time.” Mark Whiteman said.
“We are really excited about where they can take the Ray White brand in the area.”
