Properties in the Central Coast town of Wamberal receive more than twice the number of views than the the NSW average on realestate.com.au
On average, properties in Wamberal listed on the website receive 1502 views over the course of a sales campaign, more than double the state average of 728 views.
Wamberal is also performing far better than the Central Coast average, second only to Terrigal in the number of purchase-related searches.
Local agent, Colin Bernasconi from Ray White Terrigal said there has been a recent spike of interest in the suburb.
“People have become quite aware of the suburb. It is really on the move,” he said.
“Sydney buyers are coming out wanting the sea change and the privacy which you get here in spades.”
“You’re only one suburb away from Terrigal but don’t have to live in the thick of it,” he added.
Speaking of a Wamberal property that is proving incredibly popular, even by Wamberal’s high standards, Mr Bernasconi cited 66 Aldinga Drive, currently on the market with a price guide of $1.1 to $1.2 million.
“It is looking like it is going to be a street record,” he said.
The four-bedroom, two-bathroom property with a double lockup garage on 835 square metres is unusual in that it is almost flat, yet contains elevated 180-degree ocean views from Terrigal to Forresters beach.
“Properties with these type of views usually come with a steep driveway but you don’t work hard for the views here. It is a really level access and would be fine for an elderly person,” Mr Bernasconi said.
“It is also very private. We have invited a few of the neighbours around and they say ‘I didn’t know this house even existed!’.”
The property’s vendor, Barbara Wellenberg has lived all over the world, including in Berlin, Durban, Hong Kong, Sydney and Florida and said the Wamberal house has been her favourite, but that it is now time to downsize.
“I feel so sorry to leave. I love it here. That is all I can say. I loved it when I came in here and I love it still.”
“We never had a view like this. It is unbelieveable.”
Having renovated the property when they moved in around five years ago, Ms Wellenberg said it is still in perfect condition, with most people thinking it has just been renovated.
“It is very homely and perfect for entertaining. Downstairs there is a self-contained apartment. Upstairs has a huge lounge, formal dining, large kitchen with a meals room and a family room,” she said, adding that three separate terraces capitalise on the stunning views.
Only minutes to local beaches, shops, schools and the express train to Sydney, Mr Bernasconi described the property - and Wamberal as a whole - as “a million miles from care”.
