When you're looking for a property for your family, chances are you'll gravitate toward certain features and amenities. Things like schools, shops, safety and activities will likely come to mind and play a big part in your decision to buy into an area.

All of this and more can be found in the small beachside town of Semaphore - one of South Australia's many family-friendly suburbs. Located approximately 14 kilometres outside of Adelaide CBD, Semaphore gives its residents the perfect balance between quiet suburban living and big city dreaming.

A short bus, car or train trip from the suburb allows workers or students to get into Adelaide CBD with ease, while getting around the suburb itself is a breeze.

Activities galore

One of the best parts about living in Semaphore is being able to pop down to the nearby beach for a swim. Here, you'll be greeted by stunning blue waters, white sands, brown grasses and a number of sandbanks for exploring.

From kite flying, sunbathing, swimming or simply just taking the dog out for a walk, Semaphore Beach gives you plenty of room to have fun.

The nearby Semaphore Jetty is a great fishing spot, and you'll also have a fantastic view of the surrounding ocean and the Timeball Tower from this spot. Close to the water, you'll also find a carousel, playgrounds, a water slide and some great cafes.

Great community spirit

Semaphore has a great neighbourly feel to it, making it a good place for families with young kids. The suburb also lies within the City of Port Adelaide Enfield Council, which means that it gets a lot of support through local events and community facilities.

Passing through Semaphore, you'll notice the suburb is filled with many character homes. This rich history is one aspect of the city that the council takes a lot of pride in - evident in the many museums throughout the region.

Aside from this, the council also hosts many regular events in the Semaphore area and surrounding suburbs. You'll often find that many of these are family friendly too, giving you a fun day out for both adults and the kids.

Family-friendly amenities

Semaphore has an array of community facilities and amenities to support growing families. It's surrounded by a number of schools such as Dominican Primary School, Le Fevre High, Portside Christian College and Le Fevre Kindergarten.

Just a stone's throw from the Esplanade you'll find the historic Semaphore Library building. You'll find regular events such as Kids Club, Preschool Activities and even a Book Club.

On top of this, Semaphore has many types of housing on offer. Whether it's a large family property, smaller townhouse or charming character home, you'll find what you're looking for.
