WHEN Lew and Janet Draper wanted to sell up but couldn’t find anything comparable to their current inner-city Windsor location, they decided not to go too far.

The couple loved the proximity to the CBD and uninterrupted views so they leveled the neighbouring block at 72 Palmer Street and built a tri-level luxury home.

“We went looking for something but I couldn’t find anything with a better view so we moved next door,” Mr Draper said.

“We made sure our view couldn’t be blocked, and the proximity to the city is such an advantage. I used to go to work early in the CBD early in the morning and it’d only take a few minutes.”

Despite its size, the five-bedroom solidly constructed home was designed to be as low maintenance as possible.

“It’s very comfortable and has offered everything we’ve wanted,” Mr Draper said.

“We can live on the top level and don’t need to go downstairs except to access the wine cellar on the left, and the garage and workshop on the right.”

A concealed lift provides easy access to all levels, while the layout also offers the flexibility to convert a lower level lounge area into a granny flat.

Rarely is air conditioning needed as louvres filter cool breezes throughout the home, which is wrapped in balconies facing east to capture a sensational outlook toward Hamilton and across the CBD.

The top level is comprised of a beautiful master bedroom, executive study, large laundry with courtyard access, and a light and airy open-plan kitchen/living and dining room.

“When I’m working in the kitchen it’s great to see the view across the city, and there’s always something different to look at,” Ms Draper said.

“It’s just a pleasure to cook here as there’s so much bench space and great cabinetry, plus the views. There’s nothing I’d change.”

The middle level is home to the majority of bedrooms, including a spacious guest suite with balcony access, as well as a huge storage room.

Every detail was considered in the planning of this timeless property which also includes a substantial workshop, garaging for three vehicles and side entry to the rear of the block.

The Drapers are now downsizing and have listed 72 Palmer St, Windsor on the market through Ray White New Farm | Spring Hill principal Matt Lancashire.

“This is one of the most impressive properties in Windsor with unbeatable views and a location which is enormously convenient for anyone wishing to access the CBD, Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, airport or coastal links within minutes,” Mr Lancashire said.

“It’s also a wonderful home for families wanting to be within a 300 metre walk of Windsor State School, which has been recognised as one of the best primary schools in Brisbane’s north.”
