Snow business of selling in the mountains
There’s no business like snow business when you’re trying to sell a house in the Blue Mountains.
There’s no business like snow business when you’re trying to sell a house in the Blue Mountains.
Do you think it’s turned cold where you are?
Try walking down Katoomba Street in the Blue Mountains where snow is forecast for this weekend.
But rather than a negative, Alan Gregory, principal of Ray White Blackheath says a sparkling, light dusting of snow is just what buyers want when they’re thinking about a move ‘up the hill’.
“You can’t beat a snowy day for an auction - we have the fireplaces crackling, people have on their winter woolies - it’s wonderfully romantic and cosy. Perfect weather to bid for a new home,” Mr Gregory said.
And Alan Gregory should know, he’s been selling in all weathers in the beautiful mountains since 2002. For him winter only brings one downside.
“When winter hits it means that the glorious autumn foliage is on the way out. But that’s what living here is all about - you get four really different, truly gorgeous seasons every year.”
For those Sydneysiders keen for a taste of a real winter's day, there are three auctions on the schedule this weekend - that’s three reasons to get in the car and make a meal of it.

See the handmade bricks and feel the warmth during the open for inspection on Saturday, or turn up the heat and make a bid on a four bedroom home on Sunday, June 2 at 14 Cumberland Street, Katoomba.
That’s two chances to dig into a flaky pastry pie at the quaint Old City Bank Brasserie on the main street.
At 22 Lakeview Avenue, Blackheath another four bedroom home, all on one level, with a large yard is up for auction on Sunday at midday at the Blackheath Golf Club - leaving you plenty of time for a counter lunch in front of the open fire at the Gardners Inn Hotel.
And finally a neat and tidy three bedroom home at 24 Scott Avenue in Leura is a great excuse to tuck into a little something saucy at Silk’s Brasserie on the mall. It’s also up for auction also at midday on Sunday.
