Located 147km from Charters Towers, Glencoe spans an expansive 23,800 hectares and is recognised as one of the area’s blue-ribbon cattle properties. The property attracted 47 enquiries from interested parties across Queensland and New South Wales, with six bidders registering at auction. The successful buyer was Rhett Camm of Lolworth Station, Pentland.
Glencoe is a property of scale, beauty and quality, estimated to carry 6,000 AE and sold with 5,000 mixed Brahman cattle. Its fertile volcanic red soils and black soil plains support highly productive pastures, complemented by a landscape of Kurrajong, Bottle trees, Ironbark, and large gums. Water security is exceptional with spring-fed creeks, multiple permanent springs, 21 bores and five dams, while infrastructure includes a one-kilometre airstrip, 240-volt power, NBN, quality housing and well-designed cattle facilities, making management efficient and reliable.
Marketing agents Matthew Geaney and Liam Kirkwood Ray White Geaney Kirkwood described Glencoe as a once-in-a-generation opportunity.
“Glencoe is a picturesque property in the tightly held Basalt region of Charters Towers. Boasting an abundance of pristine natural water, superior improvements, and a quality herd of cattle, this sale sets a new standard for values in the area,” they said.
Beyond breeding and fattening, Glencoe has a long history of being successfully used as a bullock depot, quickly responding to rainfall and proving highly adaptable to dry cattle operations.
The result is a testament to the strength of the northern cattle market and ongoing demand for large-scale, well-watered, and highly improved grazing assets in Queensland’s premium basalt country.
