Homes for sale in Queensland have become more attractive due to stamp duty concessions introduced by the state government.

This is according to premier Campbell Newman, who claimed real estate policies put in place by the Liberal National Party (LNP) have helped lower the cost of living for many of Queensland's homeowners.

The LNP reintroduced the Principal Place of Residence scheme, which enables people to save up to $7,000 on the purchase of an average-sized property for sale.

"Easing the financial burden on families was one of our key election commitments and I'm proud that we have been able to deliver," Mr Newman stated.

"The cost of living soared under Labor and it was important that we acted quickly to bring this under control."

People who own real estate in Brisbane or on the Gold Coast may also have benefited from an $80 rebate on water connections provided to residents living in the south-east of the state.

Electricity prices across Queensland have dropped, premier Newman added, with a year-long freeze on Tariff 11 creating annual savings of approximately $120 for more than 1.2 million energy customers.
