RAY White Balmain agent Chris Williams (pictured above holding a rhino iguana) is Ray White's own Steve Irwin. Before he began in real estate more than two decades ago he specialised in studying reptiles and amphibians.
He’s always had a fascination and love for reptiles and fast forward to today and Chris now has a menagerie of reptilian pets and more than 2,000 books on reptiles.
His collection also includes several books he co-authored including his latest, a pictorial tribute titled 'Reptiles and Amphibians of Australia, New Zealand and New Guinea'.
"I have no idea how or why I became interested in reptiles but my parents kept hoping I'd grow out of it," Chris said.
"I've been an agent for 25 years but I did take six months off a few years ago to work up at the Australian Reptile Park/Aussie Ark. After so many years in a suit it was fun to get back into the khaki for a while."
Chris, who is pictured on the left with his albino carpet python, said his job is not for the faint hearted (both real estate and reptiles).
"One of the craziest experiences I have from the job is when a mate and I got talking while cleaning out the reticulated python enclosure and sat down for a chat," he said.
"Long story short, he ended up being enthusiastically cuddled by a 19 foot long snake and convincing the snake it was a case of mistaken identity took a while."
