Ray White Ponsonby hat-trick as auction market stays hot

RAY White Ponsonby enjoyed a hat-trick of successes under the hammer last night as a 75 per cent clearance highlighted the continued heat in the winter auction market.

Ray White New Zealand Chief Operating Officer Daniel Coulson (above), who successfully called all three auctions, said the big in-room crowd for four properties showed market strength.

“The average number of registered bidders is continuing its upward trajectory as competition for properties on the market intensifies week-on-week,” Mr Coulson said.

“It was standing room only and you can really feel the confidence flowing among buyers. They feel like it’s a great time to be buying - which in turn - means it’s a great time to be selling.

“Multiple bidders at auctions and multiple offers on private treaty properties is the new norm, and anyone thinking of coming to market, should do so to take advantage of buyer activity.”

One of the highlights of the night came courtesy of Ray White Ponsonby Salespeople Mike Robson and Justine Koning who sold Avondale’s 23 Avondale Road (above) for NZ$895,000.

“This property really hit the sweet spot in terms of location and price point for first home buyers and we had seven registered bidders on the night,” Mr Robson said.

“We had nearly 150 people through the open homes, and multiple repeat visits to the property, as buyers were attracted to the solid nature of the property and the up-and-coming Avondale.

“Our campaigns are as busy as ever, particularly at the NZ$700,000-NZ$1,000,00 price point as confidence reigns supreme for first home buyers, there’s no doubt it’s a great time to sell.”

Elsewhere, 1/41 Raleigh Road in Northcote sold under the hammer for NZ$916,500, and a two-bedroom townhouse in Freemans Bay sold for an undisclosed price.
