Australia's westernmost capital city is a bastion of warmth during winter and a sub-tropical paradise during summer. In fact, Perth enjoys 147 sunny days, and 121 partly sunny days annually, according to the Bureau of Meteorology. That's more than a third of the year!

It's also more than all other capital cities in Australia, including Sydney, which enjoys 107 sunny days a year and Melbourne with a chilly 47 days. That's why Perth is such a brilliant spot for relaxation and enjoying the great outdoors, as it's almost always a beautiful day here.

Small wonder then, that Tourism Western Australia reported that during the year ending July 2016 nearly 29 million tourists flooded the balmy city to experience its many sights and sounds. Visitors every year enjoy Perth's many national parks, pristine golf courses, stunning beaches on the Indian ocean and of course our renowned wine region.

Let's have a closer look at each of these brilliant attractions, and discover why Perth is the city to be in when the sun is shining.

Explore national parks

Experience Perth lists 15 national parks within a short drive of the city, perfect for experiencing the real Australian outdoors. A local and visitor favourite is the beautiful Yanchep National Park: a stunning wildlife sanctuary 45 minutes north of the city centre that attracts almost a quarter million visitors annually.

Here you can enjoy some of the country's most scenic bush walks, up-close encounters with koalas and an experience of authentic Aboriginal culture. Yanchep is also home to a network of over 400 beautiful and mysterious underground caves, many of which can be explored with a guided tour. You may even discover homes for sale nearby, so that these beautiful national parks can be your back yard.

If you're not the intrepid type, then Perth can still cater to you. In fact, the city plays home to a number of excellent golf courses - and the fairways are always hard thanks to that glorious Perth sunshine.

Play Australia's best golf courses

Fancy hitting 18 holes under a blue sky? Perth may just be the best golfing city in the country, boasting 14 world class courses which will impress even the most discerning players.

If you're up for a casual hit-out, the Wembley Complex eight minutes out of Perth offers two separate eighteen hole courses set in lush bush-land.

For something a little more challenging, take a drive out to Swan Valley and visit the Vines Resort and Golf Club. Here you'll find a course often rated as the best in the country that will challenge you with every hole. Plus if you work up a thirst in the hot sun, you just so happen to be in one of the country's best wine regions.

Experience the beautiful wine regions

Swan Valley and neighbouring Darling Range play host to some of the country's premier wineries, most of whom welcome thirsty visitors for tastings. Vinophiles will relish lengthy tours through the region's rolling hills and numerous wineries, tasting the best that Perth has to offer.

If you're passionate about food there's over 70 restaurants and cafes in the area, so you'll be spoilt for choice. You'll feel a million miles away from the city as you enjoy fine food in picturesque rural surroundings.

Soak up the sun near the Indian Ocean

Perth's beaches are some of the most beautiful in the world, from the pristine white sands of Lucky Bay to the busy cafe culture at Cottesloe Beach. If you fancy living by the shore, this may just be the perfect place to buy property.

If the sun's shining you can be at one of these idyllic beaches within minutes from the city centre, swimming in the world's warmest ocean and taking in the stunning views before you.
