GENE Fairbanks, who owns Ray White Bowral, knows that to achieve the best results on game day, agents must put the work into their training.
As a former professional rugby union player who played many years in Super 15, in Japan and in representing Australia internationally, Mr Fairbanks knows a great deal about teamwork, commitment and leadership.
“Broadly speaking, the Southern Highlands doesn't have a strong auction culture but we believe in the process and the systems and understand that running a successful textbook auction is all done in the campaign period. Anything worth doing is worth doing well ,” he said.
“We believe that auctions create a competitive environment for our vendors to achieve the highest possible price.”
Last week, Mr Fairbanks sold two properties under the hammer at their auction event at the Centennial Vineyards in Bowral.

The first property to sell under auctioneer James Keenan’s hammer was 6 Jellore St, Berrima - a huge 2056sqm parcel of which sold for $680,000 after 34 days on the market.
“Days on market in Bowral is around 90 days, so to achieve a good result for our sellers like this in a third of the time on the market is a great result,” he said.
“Across the board we're in an adjusted market and have limited buyers coming through our open homes and a lack urgency. The auction process enables us to put some pressure back on the buyers with a set date for the sale."
Mr Fairbanks also sold 30 Boardman Road, Bowral for $700,000 last week at auction.
He called the four bedroom brick and tile home, a “family treasure” which was in a peaceful and leafy location on a coveted tree-lined street.
