Former multi-code international rugby league footballer Karmichael Hunt is offloading his beautiful five bedroom Brisbane home as the growing family needs to move closer to the CBD.

The 35-year-old and his wife Emma, have owned their two storey home at 28 Newmarket Road, Hendra for seven years and are now moving to be closer to their daughters’ school, Somerville House.

The former footballer who retired from professional sport last year has swapped the footy boots for the textbooks and he’s just finished his undergraduate degree in psychology at USQ. He’s now undertaking a Masters of Psychology with his academic focus on mood profiling in elite sports.

“This was our first home we bought when we moved to Brisbane from the Gold Coast. It’s been the perfect family home for us as we have three daughters and a baby boy who has completed our family,” Mr Hunt said.

“It’s a family home, a big Queenslander with a modern extension and it’s open plan which is perfect for raising kids - we can see them all the time!

“It’s also a very private house too, and the location close to everything loved it except our girls’ school which is on the other side of the river, so we are moving.”

After his retirement, Mr Hunt returned to “the nest” and is now coaching South Logan Magpies in the Queensland Cup, which was also his junior club from age 11. His wife Emma is also a student, in her final year of law.

Their two storey home retains its character façade but inside its undergone a transformation which showcases cleans lines and an intuitive use of glass to capture light across the outdoors.

The home had previously been renovated by former owner and local builder Dan Smith, and his wife Rebecca, of WS Renovations.

Ray White Ascot sales agent Leigh Kortlang is marketing the property with an auction date of April 2 at 10am. The Hunts bought the house off her in 2014 and have stayed in touch ever since.

“This Federation home into a breath-taking family residence connecting indoor and outdoor living. It’s a big beautiful family home,” Ms Kortlang said.

“The home is of the highest standards of impeccable style, form and function, and residents will enjoy luxury living in a sought-after Hendra enclave.”

With five bedrooms and three bathrooms over two levels, the house presents the perfect layout.
