One of the most unique properties on Sydney’s lower north shore is on the market for the first time in almost 10 years with Ray White Lane Cove selling agent Rick D’Amico and a price guide above $2.75million.

Owner Steve Higgs, with a design background in high end contemporary furniture for the best part of 30 years, has spent several years perfecting the home.

“It has definitely been a labour of love for this family and it shows with the attention to detail,” said selling agent Rick D’Amico.

According to Steve, 5 Cogan Place, Lane Cove was built to be his family's dream home.

“I spent hours of time researching to procure the latest and greatest features for this home,” said Steve, adding that it’s been about bringing warmth to a contemporary environment.

With immaculate furnishings which were inspired by the latest cucina exhibits in Milan, stone work and and beautiful European oak flooring, tapware from Europe and even a ceramic benchtop that is one of only four in Australia, Steve says his approach is that aesthetics are important, however he is practically driven.

“Pretty much everything that has been selected in the house we have selected based on functionality and form rather than price.”

“A lot of it is really about making it a home and not a showpiece,” said Steve.

“There’s been a few mantras I’ve tried to adhere to: simplistic, very functional, but has a stillness and calm to the house,”

Sitting amongst all the trees of Lane Cove reserve across the road, and Greenwich and city views the home sits well into the block offering privacy.

For Steve, he enjoyed the project so much that it’s time to have another go.

“I have loved the process, this is the first thing I have built on my terms, and designing,” he said. “It became obvious through the process because I’ve learnt so much through this build.”

“I’ve put time and effort to establishing contacts, it’s not something I want to walk away from.”

“I think the opportunity to do something even more exciting next time is there so that’s why we are going to do it.”
