FOR the first time in around 40 years, a century-old Adelaide villa is on the market.

The five-bedroom, two-bathroom corner property at 46 Thomas St, Croydon is one of five homes going under the hammer at Ray White Woodville’s in-room auction event this Wednesday evening.

Its striking 1970s interior hides a solidly built main residence, with a modern air-conditioned granny flat at the rear.

“The rooms are massive, there’s a very grand entrance and the style is art deco,” Ray White Woodville principal Peter Kiritsis said.

“A normal villa would have around four main rooms, but this has seven plus a sunroom, bathroom, laundry and walk-in store. It’s naturally a very large house without any serious renovations required.”

Another gorgeous Croydon heritage house going under the hammer on Wednesday evening is a four-bedroom, one-bathroom villa at 13 Cedar Avenue.

Tidied up and ready for new owners, this stylish family residence has fresh paint, polished timber floors, an updated kitchen, zoned and ducted air conditioning, a double garage and a secure backyard.

Drawing plenty of buyer attention ahead of Wednesday night’s auction action is a modern family home at 16 Pioneer St, Seaton.

Mr Kiritsis said the full-size block totalling approximately 823sq m had received great interest.

“We had 40 groups through, all families, at the first open inspection,” he said.

“The house is less than 15 years old and is in immaculate condition with a big block of land which offers scope to add a pool. It’s one of the few modern homes in the area which has such a large amount of land.”

Around $3 million worth of property will go under the hammer during Wednesday evening’s Ray White Woodville auction event, which is scheduled to start at 6.30pm at Jarmer’s Function Room.

“There’s always a great buzz and excitement at our in-room auction events,” Mr Kiritsis said.

“It’s in a controlled environment and there’s less chance of getting rained on. We expect a full house, judging by the level of interest we’ve received in all five properties scheduled to go under the hammer.”
