How does your usual day look?

First, coffee! It’s the most important meal of the day. We both meet every morning at our favourite cafe at 7:30am for around half an hour to an hour to discuss what is pressing, what we want to achieve for the day and how we should approach it. After coffee we head into the office to meet our EA Jess, who is in the office every morning at 7am preparing our day to go as smoothly as possible. Once we are in the office we go through emails, advise Jess what we need for each meeting, and go over briefly what we have spoken about in our coffee meeting.

How did you start your career in commercial real estate?

We both have very different stories on how we started in the industry.

Lachlan: After studying for my Bachelor of Business (Real Estate and Property Development) at Griffith University I started with the Gold Coast Suns in their inaugural year.

This is where I got my first taste in sales!

It was a great opportunity, I got to negotiate many large-scale campaigns for both international and national brands and really honed my skills in client relations.

Jared: Prior to real estate I spent five years working for one of Australia’s largest privately-owned building and construction companies, Hutchinson Builders.

In construction management, I was heavily involved in many different and iconic commercial and residential high-rise projects including Capri on Via Roma.

I still hold my Commercial Builders License which has helped a lot when talking with commercial property owners and developers.

We joined as a team just around 4 years ago and have been great friends for more than 15 years.

What do you enjoy most about working at Ray White Commercial? What makes RWC different?

There are incredible resources available to us at Ray White Commercial, we love the networking opportunities. There a number of agents we look up to within the Ray White Commercial network, and to have the opportunity to call them and ask for advice has helped us immensely early in our careers. We have also made some close friends across the network.

What are your go-to property marketing methods that you present to your clients?

There is an obvious trend toward digital & social media marketing. Apart from all the traditional marketing techniques, we try to be heavy across digital & social media platforms underpinned with high quality photography and video content.

Tell me about a unique success story?

In February we sold 42 Siganto Drive directly through Instagram. From our initial Instagram post of the property video.

It set off a chain of events that culminated in the asset selling for $2.65M at 11pm, the night before auction.

Do you auction?

Yes we do we are very passionate about the auction method. We auction over 90% of the property we sell.

What’s the one thing you know now that you wish you knew when you first started out?

Don’t be afraid to ask for help! We try to catch up for coffee or a beer with someone who inspires us once a month. They’re not necessarily in real estate however we always find we take away one or two points that we try to implement into our business.

What is your outlook for the Gold Coast commercial market over the next 12 months?

We are seeing a renewed confidence in the Gold Coast commercial market. We are receiving great enquiry from Sydney and Melbourne with investors frustrated with tight yields at home.

We are both looking forward to an exciting 12-18 months ahead!
