Michelle Chick opened her very own business seven weeks ago. In that time the Ray White Werribee team has sold 10 properties, listed another 15, launched a property management division and recruited two new team members.
You wouldn’t expect anything less from Werribee’s leading salesperson. Michelle has built up a strong sales operation over the past 15 years and decided to take the leap into business ownership in January.
“It’s been a huge beginning,” Michelle said. “After working for someone else for 15 years, it’s been a scary, overwhelming but really fun experience opening my very own business. I’m learning so much every day and I’m loving what I’m doing,” she said.
Now, entering her second month of operation, Michelle couldn’t be happier with the progress the business has made. She said a true sign of success is the consistent flow of resumes coming through the door from local agents wanting to join her.
“I’ve already put on two new people in the sales team who sought us out as a place they wanted to work. I get resumes coming in all the time and young agents asking to spend a day with me to learn the ropes. I think it’s testament to the impact our new office has had already in the marketplace,” she explained.
Now a team of five sales people, one property manager and an office manager, Michelle’s focus is twofold: continue her passion of listing and selling as well as mentor her young team.
“Around 75 per cent of my business is referred to me, and I have worked hard to let my clients know about my move to Ray White. I had two people full time and one person part time calling everyone on my database over a three week period, I’ve invested in local marketing, including print advertising and DL drops, and I’ve run a social media campaign. I had stylist come in and design the office to feel like home. It’s relaxed and the front foyer looks amazing.
“My passion is to keep listing and selling for my clients, but I am also excited to mentor my new sales team to help them build their own individual teams,” Michelle said.
With the future looking so bright, Michelle credits the supportive environment the Ray White corporate team created for her.
“Could I say I would have done so much, so quickly without the help of the Ray White team? Well, probably not,” she said. “Ray White Victoria have been amazingly supportive during my transition.”
