FIRST home buyers are expected to be out in force again at auctions across the country in an attempt to take full advantage of the new federal government’s deposit scheme.
And they’re in luck with the Ray White Group offering 362 properties to be auctioned this Saturday making this weekend the perfect time to enter the property market.
Sydney is sure to see some action from first home buyers, especially on this 89/525 Illawarra Rd, Marrickville apartment. Ray White Erskineville associate director Matt Carvahlo said the modern, two bedroom property had been popular with first home buyers.
“We’ve had about 100 groups inspect the property and are currently expecting a significant number of registered bidders on the day,” Mr Carvalho said.
Mr Carvahlo said there’s more great news for new buyers with sought after Marrickville beginning to become more affordable in 2020.
On Sydney’s northside, 49 Downing St, Epping(pictured above) is ready to be sold through Ray White Epping’s agent James Kwon who said they’ve seen 40 buyers go through the family home.
“We’re confident of a sale on Saturday since the house is in a great area - especially for families who want to be near the local schools,” Mr Kwon said.
Moving on to Melbourne, Ray White Mill Park director Kon Kouvas said the three bedroom family home at 58 Parklands Drive, Thomastown(pictured above) has so far recorded a massive 103 inspections, 22 contracts and 12 registered bidders.
“It’s an all-purpose home that’s spacious and comfortable as well as having a great entertaining area,” Mr Kouvas said.
“Because of this we’re getting interest from everywhere but mainly first home buyers as there isn’t a lot similar at the moment in this it’s price bracket.”
In the family friendly eastern Melbourne suburb of Ringwood, Ray White sales consultant Cameron Bailey is also seeing a lot of first home buyer interest on this three bedroom 23A Mullum Mullum Road, Ringwood home (pictured above).
“The property has had relatively heavy interest which is in line with all properties in the area at the moment because it’s a cracking spot,” Mr Bailey said.
“Interest is mainly coming from first home buyers which is unsurprising as their market is exceptional buoyant at the moment but we’ve also seen some young families come through and a bit of investor interest.
“This part of Ringwood is a highly sought after pocket so interest levels were always going to be high.”
Also in the eastern suburbs, 9 Hardwood Court, Mitcham represented by Ray White Forest Hill agent Zeng Shi is expected to have some fierce competition on the day.
Further north in Brisbane, Ray White Alderley director Andrew Cowan is anticipating a great result for this two level family home at 51 Alderley Avenue.
“So far, 82 groups have come through during inspections with interest coming from a mixture of first home buyers, young professional couples and families,” Mr Cowan said.
“The high level of interest is because finding a house like this with four bedrooms and two bathrooms in Alderley is not easy and it’s the kind of home that appeals to a wide range of buyers.”
On the other side of Brisbane in the bayside suburb of Cleveland, a three bedroom house at 70 Haggup St, Cleveland(pictured above) is on the market until Saturday. Ray White Cleveland selling agent Vern Jensen said the current owners are looking to move due to a change of circumstances.
“It would make an incredibly affordable rental and only about three doors down from Cleveland State High School,” Mr Jensen said.
“Ultimately we’re seeing mostly owner occupiers with a few investors but all interest has been across the board from younger to older buyers.
“Cleveland has a very broad property market that has units, townhouses, standard homes and even six to eight million dollar mansions.”
Also on the bayside in Ormiston is a two storey, family home 1 Reed St. The property has already had strong interest and Ray White Cleveland selling agent Ben Bushby is looking forward to a great result on Saturday.
South Australia is on track for a great weekend with two notable auctions coming on Saturday. In Marion, Ray White Glenelg sales consultant Samuel Paton is representing the sought after, four bedroom 5A Inverness Avenue home.
“We’ve really only had downsizers looking at this one - they are showing the most interest and a few young families but no first home buyers,” Mr Paton said.
“The owners built the house themselves in 2014 and really wanted to create a home that was well finished with high quality fixtures and fittings.”
In Adelaide’s Rosewater, Ray White Port Adelaide’s Nick Psarros is selling a three bedroom character home at 2 Reynolds St that he expects will be snapped up at auction by a first home buyer.
“The house is getting very good interest from first home buyers and very good numbers through,” Mr Psarros said.
“People love the character, the high ceilings and the yard which is harder to find in Rosewater.
“This one is a lot bigger than what you normally find in the area and the 1910 character homes are starting to get rarer - there aren’t many going at the moment.
“I’ve seen an influx of first home buyers using grants and schemes - definitely a surge in numbers which has made a huge difference to the property market.”
