The listing of one of Sydney’s finest estates, ‘Berith Park’ in Wahroonga is drawing interest from Australian expats showing a keen interest in re-entering the Sydney property market.

“We’re already receiving enquiries from serious buyers abroad. Not your typical foreign investor, but Australians in London looking to invest in Australian property post-Brexit,” said Elliott Placks of Ray White Double Bay.

Selling in conjunction with Ray White Wahroonga’s David Walker, Mr Placks went on to say that he expects that interest to increase as the marketing campaign ramps up.

“We expect that expats will be a strong buyer pool for this property. The early indications are certainly showing they’ll be competitive.”

With price expectations sitting around $15 million, the architectural and historical masterpiece at 19 Billyard Avenue was last sold 40 years ago. Current owners, Warwick and Karen White, said it is the flexibility and grandness of the residence that they love the most.

“It’s a magnificent place to live and the most wonderful family home - grand yet intimate. It’s a country home in the city. Away from it all, yet close to everything.

“It feels like a French chateau or an English stately home with its grand rooms and European feel but at the same time it is incredibly flexible. We use every room. A few years ago we had a live in nanny in the self-contained flat, now we have a continual run of our sons' overseas friends staying there while on their gap years! What was once a huge playroom, is now a gym,” they said

Designed by architect, F Ernest Stowe, built by, E Hutson and completed around 1909, Mr and Mrs White undertook a restoration of the property in keeping with its original period features.

“It’s one of Wahroonga’s most iconic properties among locals. The estate was designed and built with no expense spared and to ensure ideal living conditions. The improvements made over the years are meticulous and accentuate the original features of the home,” co-agent, David Walker said.

Sitting on nearly a hectare of land, ‘Berith Park’ 19 Billyard Avenue, Wahroonga is for sale by Expressions of Interest which close on Friday, 11 November.
