AROUND $35 million worth of property will go under the hammer tonight when Ray White New Farm holds its biannual Auction Under the Stars event.

The Ray White New Farm team is renowned for selling some of Brisbane’s finest properties at its auction events and this one won’t disappoint.

Ray White New Farm principal Matt Lancashire said tonight’s Auction Under the Stars event was a great snapshot of the inner-city Brisbane market.

“We’re showcasing investor stock through to some of Brisbane’s more prestige property,” he said.

“So far to date we’ve had the highest number of registered bidders prior to an Auction Under the Stars event, which is an exciting indication of the state of the market. We’ve also had a record number of pre-auction offers which again is a great show of strength in the market as people try to shut down properties before auction. There’s been a really great mix of enquiry at a national and international level, proving that Brisbane is the place to invest.”

Twenty-two properties will go under the hammer with Lot 1 being 186 Evelyn St, Grange (above) which is being marketed through selling agent Nicholas Given.

“It’s the simplicity of the floorplan, with a great amount of lawn out the back as well as a pool,” Mr Given said.

“You can see the backyard from the kitchen which is really big for buyers. The property can be raised underneath and it’s an affordable price bracket.”

Also up for sale on the night is a beautiful Paddington renovation at 64 Alma St (below).

“This home typifies some of the incredible transformations we’re currently seeing to the Paddington streetscape,” selling agent Christine Rudolph said.

“What’s very exciting about it is transformations like this are really satisfying buyers’ thirst for a beautiful lifestyle home already completed and so close to the CBD. There’s no doubt in the past 12 months we’ve really seen continued evidence of buyer demand for these types of homes, which has driven prices up by more than 10 per cent.”

The sweetener thrown into the auction order, ‘Bumblebee’ - a vintage caravan restored by former The Block contestants Michael and Carlene, has sold after two offers were made prior.

Carlene said the 12ft-long Franklin caravan, which they purchased off Gumtree, took around four weeks to transform.

“We love the opportunity to create something that you don't normally see in a caravan, such as rattan and brass,” she said.

“We also love being able to pay homage to the history of these vintage vans with references to its origins. The pattern in the upholstery fabric has a vintage influence. The dining table is original but resurfaced and the clock is the original clock that came with the 40-year-old van.”

Auction Under the Stars, Tuesday March 26 at Ray White New Farm, 612 Brunswick St, New Farm.

Registrations open at 5.30pm, ahead of the auction commencing at 6.30pm.
