OF the 205 Ray White Group auctions scheduled across the weekend, the pick of the action took place on Sovereign Islands.

A crowd of around 30 people gathered outside 15 Westminster Court on the Gold Coast, as two active bidders fought it out, before the hammer finally fell at $3.1 million.

Ray White Sovereign Island Premier Performer Edin Kara said there was a real buzz around the prestige property (pictured below) with plenty of activity during the four-week long campaign.

“This home is the pinnacle of prestige living so it was no surprise we had more than 20 groups through the doors during the open homes,” Mr Kara said.

“We had four registered bidders on the day but when the time came, the battle was between two of them, with a local couple the eventual lucky buyers.

“The home hadn’t been on the market for eight years and in that time, there wasn’t much work done on it, so they’ll be looking to renovate to turn this house in to pure luxury.

“Based over four levels, the property comprises six bedrooms, five bathrooms, executive study, gym, wine cellar and comes with a pontoon suitable for a large boat.

“But the real cherry on the cake is the home’s location. The 730sq m* house is north/north-west facing with 30m* water frontage, offering stunning views over the Broadwater, hinterland and Coomera River.

“The local couple have snapped up arguably the best buy on Sovereign Islands.”

Elsewhere, paddles were being raised all across New South Wales, where eight homes changed hands for more than $1 million.

A picture-perfect freestanding three-bedroom home at 96 Salisbury Road, Camperdown, (pictured above) was sold for $1.45 million by Ray White Surry Hills and Alexandria director Ercan Ersan.

“It’s a good land size, freestanding and north-facing to the rear with potential to add a second level,” Mr Ersan said.

“The family home has been renovated and opened up at the back around ten years ago so all the hard work has been done but there’s still huge potential to add more bedrooms.”

The third highest sale of the weekend came at the hands of Ray White Cherrybrook I Thornleigh I West Pennant Hills sales and marketing agent Andrew Crauford.

The hammer fell for $1.391 million as 50 people gathered at 5 Arundel Way, Cherrybrook.

The delightful binet home (pictured above) stood amongst an exclusive estate of quality homes and came with four bedrooms, three bathrooms and space for four cars.

But the biggest buzz of all was left to Ray White Cannington Principal Michael Smart, as a 1920s character home at 35 Kent Street, Victoria Park, WA, attracted 11 registered bidders.

“Of the 11 registered bidders, five were actively bidding during the auction, with the initial bid starting at $600,000 and climbing all the way to $737,000,” Mr Smart said.

“The home (pictured below) offers copious amounts of character charm, with original tuck-pointed brickwork on the front verandah, high ornate ceilings and wide Jarrah boards and skirting.

“It’s in need of renovation but the structure is great and it attracted interest primarily from families looking for their forever home.

“The location is what sets this property apart, being right next to the shopping centre, opposite a little park and walking distance to restaurants and cafés.

“There is also a little bowling green just down the road and is a prime example of what a close-knit community this is.”

And the success didn’t end there for the Smart family. Michael’s son, Cameron Smart, Ray White Cannington Principal - Licensee, sold a development opportunity (pictured below) under the hammer on the same day, just two hours apart.

The asset at 125 Lacey Street, East Cannington, was a sprawling piece of land across 5,944sq m*, with both short and long-term options for the savvy investor.

“Cameron had four registered bidders and worked incredibly hard to raise the bidding from the reserve of $950,000, all the way up to $999,500,” Mr Smart continued.

“It’s a proud day for our family, and to my knowledge, it’s the first time a father and son have sold separate assets under the hammer on the same day in WA.”
