Adapting to online auctions with Trish Orrico

Melbourne spent a massive 111 days in lockdown over the past two years - the second highest of any city in the world. With the Hume area being locked down longer than that which includes the suburb Craigieburn where Trish lives and works. They lost on-site auctions, private inspections and travel outside of 5km from their home for much of that time.
But every week, Trish set up her camera, ready to auction off her listings wearing her lucky Ugg boots, to ensure she was giving her sellers the very best opportunity the market had to offer.

Trish believes one of her major selling points as an agent is that she is also an auctioneer, from the start to finish of the campaign, she is handling every aspect and with her vendor all the way. What she loves most about being an auctioneer is knowing she is able to achieve the highest price possible for her owners and seeing the joy in their faces after that auction.
“No matter the outcome, knowing that we got the highest price possible for the owner is what I love most about auctions. It’s life changing for them and the buyers,” she said.
“We take it for granted as we sell houses every week, but putting yourself in their shoes and realising that you are an integral part of their next chapter in life is absolutely mind blowing....honestly, think about it.”
During lockdown Trish watched many of Ray White Victoria | Tasmania head of growth and auctioneer Matt Condon’s auctions and copied a lot of that with her own online auctions. Adapting to online took some time, but she’s still doing them every week because they just work. Last month, she even auctioned a property where the purchaser was bidding from his house in Sri Lanka on Zoom.
Trish's top tip as an auctioneer is to be yourself, be engaging and be inclusive to everyone.
