It’s not everyday that ABC television turn up to a clearing sale.
Following the successful sale of one of the best properties in the Darling Downs, “Prestbury” in Felton, by Matt Cleary and James Croft at Ray White Rural Pittsworth for $6million ($5758/ha), the ensuing clearing sale was a similarly noteworthy event on Saturday.
More than 500 lots drew a crowd of over 500 people, with an impressive price of $90,000 paid for a John Deere 8400, a Spra Coupe 4640 sold for $41,000 and an Acco Tipper going for $10,500.
But it was the owners, Rob and Sally McCreath, who were the real story. Their move from the 1042 hectares to Tasmania has drawn the interest of the ABC program Landline.
The McCreaths relocated from a dairy farm in the south west of Scotland 23 years ago. In that time they have the farming enterprise as a zero till, controlled traffic farming operation on a 3m and 9m systems. There has been a significant amount of pasture improvement work.
“In addition to their farming and livestock operation the McCreaths have been a big part of the Felton valley community being heavily involved in The Felton Food Festival.”
James Croft said there was a lot of history associated with “Prestbury” and the level of enquiry we had for both the property and clearing sale was well above expectation.
“It was also great to have Pip Courtney and her film team there from Landline taking an interest in the clearing sale,” Mr Croft said.
Pip told James that it was the first time she had been at a clearing sale and she really enjoyed the experience.
